Fantastic Exam Results 2017
Celebrating Results at Longdendale
It has been a rewarding year of GCSE results for students at Longdendale High School.
Head teacher Andrea Jones said the pass rate reflected the hard work and dedication put in by the students. The head went on to say: “We are delighted with the GCSE results for our Class of 2018, particularly in a year which has seen significant changes to the assessment and examination structures nationally. Our aspiration to achieve and to be successful has certainly paid off for our students and we are extremely proud of them.”
Andrea puts the successes down to the students and staff saying: “With the support of a dedicated team of staff, and alongside the students’ own talent, hard work and commitment, the students have achieved these well-deserved results. It has been a fantastic five year journey and we are delighted to see our collective efforts rewarded. We wish all of our students the best of luck for the future.”
The performance of the school is reflected in great results in many subjects, most notably in English, English literature, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, art, food and nutrition, drama, and music where results are well above the national average.
Andrea said the results supported the future opportunities for the students as they go on to their chosen routes in further education and training.
The ongoing achievements and successes of Longdendale High School have been reflected by: being recognised as a Centre of Excellence on achieving the Inclusion Charter Mark; the AcSEED award; the award of the Gold Inspiring Careers and Guidance quality mark; the International School Award; and by Ofsted, who judged the school to be ‘Good with Outstanding Features’.
