We are proud to offer the Prince’s Trust Achieve programme, which is an exciting qualification in personal development and employability skills. While on the programme, students have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of activities related to personal and social development, life skills, active citizenship, enterprise and preparation for work.

Since Christmas, the two year 9 and 10 Prince's Trust classes have been working hard on their chosen community projects. For this unit the students have to identify a need within their community and complete a project to support their community.

Miss Garcia, Mrs Parker and Miss Ashworth's year 9s are currently fundraising for Reuben's Retreat in Glossop.  They have booked guest speakers, secured donations of Crème eggs from Morrison’s, received a donation from Manchester City for their raffle and sold Reuben's Retreat merchandise in school. They also planned a cake sale and also hid rocks around the area with the donation numbers for Reuben's Retreat.

Mrs Parker and Mrs Dranfield's year 9 group have chosen to raise awareness about mental health in young people. So far the students have set up a partnership with Cloughside College and are planning a session to learn more about the stigma associated with mental health. The students have also had visits from Ms Noble and the charity MIND. The students are selling MIND wristbands, planned a cake sale, created positive word walls, created positive quote jars and made an awareness board.

Miss Garcia's year 10 class are currently raising awareness about homelessness in Greater Manchester.  They have demonstrated fantastic resilience and are planning to support a local food bank.

Mrs Parker's year 10 class have chosen to learn more about the elderly in their community and visited a local care home. The students have participated in dementia awareness training and pledged to become dementia friends. They have also participated in a question and answers session with care workers from Balmoral care home.

All of the projects have received excellent feedback from members of the community who have benefitted from this charitable work.  We are very proud of all of our Prince’s Trust students and their fantastic achievements
