Library

Our redeveloped school library was officially opened in October 2022 by local author, poet and performer, Tony Walsh, also known as Longfella. The library is a hive of activity in school each day and is open to students to study, research and read every break and lunch time.

Throughout the year, the library team run a great selection of events and competitions centred around a huge range of themes. Recently celebrated events have included Roald Dahl Day, Gothic Month, Kindness Week, Black History Month, Halloween, Christmas and perhaps the largest and most vibrant event in the library calendar, World Book Day.

Special awareness days, weeks and months such as International Literacy Day, National Storytelling Day, Earth Day, Remembrance, Pride Month, Holocaust Memorial Day, Mental Health Awareness Month and Dyslexia Awareness Week are also marked in the library with varied activities such as colouring, scavenger hunts, puzzles and mindfulness activities on offer for students to get involved with.

Our library team also run the Comics and Craft elective. For further information on this and other events taking place in the library currently, please see below.

Comics and Craft is designed for students to explore their creativity and imagination. Students will gain skills such as design/art and will be able to link this with their most beloved comic characters.

On Monday 30th September the library is going to be launching the Halloween competition. This is open to all year groups.

Students who wish to take part should collect a Halloween pack from the library. All entries need to be given to the library team by Monday 14th October. All submitted entries will receive a spooky treat and the overall winner will be announced on Thursday 17th October. Good luck everyone!
