A Message from Our Head of School

I am Michael Chiles, the newly appointed Head of School, and I may not have had the chance to meet you in person yet. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share some of the fantastic changes we’re making to ensure every student thrives at Longdendale.

From fresh approaches to behaviour and rewards to a renewed focus on attendance, homework, and high expectations, I am committed to making Longdendale a place where every child can achieve their full potential in a supportive and nurturing environment.

At Longdendale, we believe in a values-driven education, where respect, resilience, and aspiration are not just words but guiding principles that shape every aspect of our school culture. Our Longdendale Legacy is built on these values, equipping students with the skills and mindset they need to succeed as global citizens and leave a legacy they can be proud of.

Transition to Secondary School

We understand that moving to secondary school is a big step, and we are committed to making the transition as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Our transition programme is designed to help students and families feel supported and well-prepared for this new chapter.

Your child will have the opportunity to meet key members of staff, including their Head of Year 7, Attendance Officer, and Senior Pastoral Manager. Additionally, our Student Transition Leadership Team—a group of dedicated students—will be on hand to answer questions and help Year 7s settle in.
