You're invited! Longdendale open evening!

22 September 2022

Longdendale High School is a forward thinking and popular 11-16 academy set at the edge of the Peak District on the border of Tameside and Derbyshire. We are a vibrant, caring and inclusive school with a current intake of around 850 students.

Longdendale High School joined Stamford Park Trust in January 2021. The multi-academy Trust led by Ashton Sixth Form College gives us the opportunity to do things differently; to develop and form collaborative approaches to teaching and learning to provide an outstanding quality of education to all students.

“This summer, our Class of 2022 students produced the best GCSE results in the school’s history”

Andrea Jones - Headteacher

Alongside superb results in many subject areas the school is particularly pleased with the performance of the Maths, English, Science, Art, and Drama departments which have once again secured very strong results. The school has also been able to celebrate outstanding success in many other subjects including Music, Geography, French and Business Studies/Computer Science.

Headteacher Andrea Jones said these results support the future opportunities for the students as they go on to their chosen routes in further education and training, adding “We are delighted that the vast majority of our students are now pursuing their chosen pathways into further education at sixth form colleges, with several having secured some fantastic work-based apprenticeships. It is especially pleasing to see so many of our students continuing their education within the Stamford Park Trust at Ashton Sixth Form College.”

The school holds Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Flagship School status for the quality of our inclusive provision. The award recognises those unique schools who have held IQM Centre of Excellence status for at least 3 years; and played a strong leadership role in developing inclusion best practice across a network of schools.

“Inclusion, care, nurture, and support are at the core of everything that happens at the school” IQM Assessor - May 2022

Longdendale was described in the report as a “superbly inclusive secondary school”. As a Trust they have a shared belief that young people should have access to the best education provision so that the students in their care are able to realise their ambitions and thrive. The Trust is unashamedly aspirational for all students.

‘Excellence and Ambition for All’

Induction for new students is a major focus at Longdendale and care is taken to ensure all students are made to feel welcome during their transition to secondary school.

The school holds the Leading Parent Partnership Award in recognition of the work we do to engage and support our families to promote and support the best possible outcomes and life chances for our young people.

Our Open Evening gives you the chance to meet staff, view the school and talk to current students. This summer has seen major improvements made to the school, including a fantastic new Library resource centre and a state of the art IT suite. The headteacher will give welcome talks at 6:15pm and 7:15pm.
