Ten students from both Year 7 and Year 8 are taking part in the Pursuing Individual Excellence (PIE) Into the Mix programme.

They are undergoing training to become peer mentors for our new intake of students who will be joining us in September. The mentors will be a great support to the younger students as they move up from primary to secondary school.

Having kicked off the programme earlier this month, yesterday they met to learn about kindness and showing appreciation. As a group, they chose to show kindness to the Year 11 students who are currently undertaking their GCSEs by creating treats and kind messages. They also chose to show gratitude to all the teachers at Longdendale by making hampers for them to enjoy.

Later in the programme there will be further training in social action projects where they will develop new digital skills and take part in cultural experiences.
